Already booked? The price keeps moving

Booking.com reprices several times a day. Most rooms can be cancelled for free until one to three days before arrival, so if the price drops, you book the same room again and cancel the old booking, and the difference stays with you.

Frequently asked questions

I've already booked. How do I "update" if the price dropped?

Cancel the existing booking and rebook the same room for the same dates, this time at the lower price. If the room came with free cancellation, this costs you nothing. Booking.com refunds you in full, and you make a new booking.

How do I know if I have "free cancellation"?

Open your existing booking on Booking.com (My Bookings). Under the cancellation policy it says explicitly "Free cancellation until date X". If it says "Non-refundable" or lists a cancellation fee, there's nothing to do. Most rooms on Booking.com do come with free cancellation.

Is it really free?

Yes, completely. If you book through the link we send, Booking.com pays us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. That's what lets us keep the service free for the community.

How often do you check the price?

Roughly every hour, automatically. A meaningful price change reaches you within about an hour.

When exactly will I get an email?

Only when the price drops by at least 5% from the lowest price we've seen so far. That way you're not flooded with updates about tiny moves that aren't worth cancelling and rebooking for. There's also a 6-hour cooldown between alerts for the same tracker, so you don't get 4 emails about the same drop.

What details do you keep?

Your email address, the hotel link and the dates, that's all. No passwords, no account, no phone number, no credit card. You can delete all your trackers in one click from the "My trackers" page.

Will you spam me?

No. No confirmation email, no newsletters. You only hear from us when there's something to report: a price that dropped or a room that opened up. That's it.

Are there hotels this won't work for?

The service works with any hotel that has a page on Booking.com. Just copy the URL of the hotel page.
